Holiday closings: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Eve (close at 5 p.m.), Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Year's Eve (close at 5 p.m.)
Board Meetings: The Board meeting is held on the 3rd Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. All meetings are open to the public.

Petitions available for the April library board election
Individuals interested in running for a position on the Arthur Public Library District Board in the April 4, 2017 election my pick up their candidate petition sheets beginning September 20, 2016.
Offices up for election are five (5) Library Board Trustees.
Petitions may be picked up at the Arthur Public Library during regular hours of operation.
The filing period for petitions is December 12-19, 2016. On the final day of the filing period, December 19, we will accept petitions until 5:00 p.m.

Operating Budget 2015-2016
The Arthur Public Library will remain a vital contributor to the cultural and educational success of the District, serving the community with a wide array of materials, educational and cultural experiences.
The Arthur Public Library District will offer a professionally selected and well-organized collection of books and other materials. The collection shall meet the educational, recreational, informational, and cultural needs of the Arthur community. Special emphasis will be placed on popular titles; books and special programs, which stimulate young children's interest; and opportunities for life long learning for all residents of the district. Access to the collection will be assured through a well-trained and courteous staff and adequate facility.
The library shall endeavor to cooperate with all relevant local, state and federal agencies and shall keep abreast of changing library technology and practice.
All of the above shall be done in a fiscally responsible manner.

Arthur Public Library District, 225 S Walnut St, Arthur, IL 61911
Our library cards are free to anyone living in our district, which encompasses the area of the original Arthur School District. Anyone living in an area not being served by a Public Library may purchase a card for $60.00 per year.
Books, magazines, and audio books borrowed from our library are checked out for 3 weeks and may be renewed twice. Our fines are $.05 per day for each item.
DVD's checked out from our collection are checked out for 7 days with no renewal. There is a $.50 per day charge for each item.
The L.O.V.E. collection or red videos are a rotating collection of videos that are only in our library for 1 month at a time. These videos are only checked out for 3 days at a time. The fine remains at $.50 per day.
Rules for Inter-library Loan Materials
When you are notified that you have materials to be picked up, you have 1 week to pick that item up. Circulation times, rules, and charges follow the rules of the lending library.
This is System-wide policy which we as a member of the system are required to follow.
